QLD: Wind farm be built in state s north
Australia's biggest wind farm, capable of powering 4,000 households, will be built in far
north Queensland.
Mines and Energy Minister TONY MCGRADY says the state government-owned Stanwell Corporation
will build the green electricity generator near Ravenshoe, 1,900 kms north of Brisbane.
Mr MCGRADY says the 20 turbines comprising phase one of the wind farm should be operational
by July next year.
The first stage of the project will be capable of producing 12 megawatts of electricity or
enough electricity to power 4,000 households.
