WA: Two die on WA roads

PERTH, Feb 12 AAP - Police believe alcohol contributed to the deaths of two people
killed in separate accidents on West Australian roads.

Speed, inexperience and alcohol were responsible for a crash in the town of Waroona,
108km south of Perth, police said.

A 17-year-old girl from Yarloop crashed into a tree on the side of the road after overtaking
a vehicle at about 1.35am (WDT) on Thursday.

Police say the teenager, who had friends in the car, had earlier been at a local tavern.

An 18-year-old passenger was flown to Royal Perth hospital with serious injuries.

In another accident in the Goldfields town of Boulder, a pedestrian died after being
hit by a car on Forrest Street at 6.30pm (WDT) on Wednesday.

Police say the man was seen sitting on the side of the road intoxicated before the
incident happened.

They were later contacted by the driver of a vehicle who said he may have been involved.

The major crash squad will travel to Boulder on Thursday to investigate.
