Fed: Gov should consider summit idea: Tanner

CANBERRA, April 19 AAP - The government should consider establishing a body that finds
areas of state and federal policy that overlap, federal Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner
says.

Mr Tanner said he heard the idea being spruiked during the governance stream of the 2020 summit.

The body would determine areas of policy where there was conflicting regulatory arrangements.

"Some kind of independent body that scrutinises all of these things and produces material
that puts pressure on politicians and governments to fix these things," Mr Tanner told
Sky News.

"That's an interesting idea that's worth us considering."
