Fed: Rudd likely to reject East Timor guest worker scheme

KEVIN RUDD's signalled he'll reject pleas from East Timor to be included in a guest
worker scheme.

Timor Leste Prime Minister XANANA GUSMAO hopes to convince Mr RUDD to include East
Timor in a three-year trial .. in which two thousand 500 workers from Tonga .. Vanuatu
.. Kiribati and Papua New Guinea will be given temporary work visas to perform seasonal
agricultural work.

But the PM's told ABC Radio East Timor will be ineligible for the pilot program as
they aren't members of the Pacific Islands Forum.
